Do Sanuk Shoes Run Big or Small? (Explained)

Are you considering buying a pair of Sanuks? In this quick guide, I’ll share with you which Sanuk shoes run big or small, or whether they are true to size, depending on the model.

Are Sanuk Sidewalk Surfers true to size?

According to Sanuk, the Sanuk Sidewalk Surfer shoes are ½ size small. The shoes don’t come in half sizes, so if you are in between sizes, size up to get a snug and comfortable fit.

I found plenty of reviews saying these shoes are a little small, so I bought a size up and I’m glad I did. The Sidewalk Surfers are roomy, light, and comfortable. They’re great for walking!

Are Sanuk Donna Hemp true to size?

According to Sanuk, the Sanuk Donna Hemp shoes are ½ size big. The shoes don’t come in half sizes, so if you are in between sizes, size down to get a snug and comfortable fit.

If you are a size 7, for example, order a size 7. However, if you are a size 6.5, order a size 6. Many women said the Donna Hemp shoes are ½  size too big. Otherwise, great shoes!

Are Sanuk sandals true to size?

Sanuk sandals are true to size, but I’ve seen some reviewers say that the Yoga Mat sandals run ½ size small. If you’re in between sizes, size up rather than down, just to be safe.

Personally, I love some room for my toes when I’m wearing flip-flops so I sized them up from 8½  to a 9 and they’re perfect. I have somewhat narrow feet and they’re not too wide, which I love.

I mostly wear them as house slippers because they are super comfortable and hold up for a long time. Just got a second pair after mine wore down (it took three years of daily wear).

Do Sanuk shoes stretch out?

Because Sanuk shoes are made of canvas, the upper tends to stretch out a bit especially when they are worn with socks. Expect the material to “stretch” after a few days of wear.

I recommend wearing your Sanuks with or without socks – don’t go back and forth. The upper tends to stretch out when worn with socks, which then makes them loose when worn barefoot.

Do Sanuk flip-flops stretch?

Sanuk flip-flops do not stretch. The yoga mat footbed is comfortable and provides a great cushion, but the leather straps allow the flip flops to fit tighter, which won’t stretch and loosen.
