What is the right way to clean Alexander McQueen shoes? This article teaches you how to take care of your sneakers.
How to deep clean Alexander McQueen shoes
Before cleaning your Alexander McQueen shoes, prepare the following items:
- Soft bristle brush to dust off and prepare the shoes.
- Medium bristle brush for cleaning the top part of the shoes.
- Hard bristle brush for cleaning the rubber sides.
- Shoe trees to maintain the shoe’s shape and make cleaning easier.
- Shoe cleaning solution for dissolving dirt and grime.
- Bowl of water for mixing the cleaning solution.
- Microfiber towel for wiping the shoes clean.
You can buy each item separately. However, for convenience, we highly recommend the Reshoevn8r Signature Cleaning Kit.
The kit includes all essentials: three brushes with varied bristle strength and a pair of high-quality shoe trees, and it’s also affordable.
Once you have all the items, you are ready to clean your Alexander McQueen shoes. Here is the step-by-step guide on how to clean Alexander McQueen shoes:
1. Mix the cleaning solution with water
The first step to cleaning your Alexander McQueen shoes is to mix the cleaning solution with water.
We recommend using Reshoevn8r’s cleaning solution, which is made from natural soaps derived from coconut and jojoba oils. Since Alexander McQueen shoes are expensive, we prefer the most natural cleaning option available.
Add two small pumps of Reshoevn8r cleaning solution to a bowl of water. To mix the solution, lightly stir with the soft bristle brush. After mixing, shake off any excess solution from the brush.
2. Remove the laces and insert the shoe trees
Remove the laces before pre-treating the shoes and set them aside for later cleaning. Removing the laces allows better access to the top part of the shoes.
Next, place the shoe trees inside the shoes to maintain their shape and provide a solid surface for cleaning. The shoe trees also let you apply pressure to the toe boxes of the Alexander McQueen shoes without causing creases.
If shoe trees are unavailable, use socks to stuff the shoes.
3. Dunk the laces in a bowl of cleaning solution
Once removed, dip the laces in the cleaning solution and rub them together in your hands.
After thoroughly rubbing them, the laces should appear white again. Remove the laces from the bowl and set them aside to dry.
4. Pre-treat the shoes with a soft brush
Next, pre-treat the shoes before starting the main cleaning process. To pre-treat the shoes, dip the soft bristle brush into the cleaning solution.
Using the soft brush, create a lather over the entire top part of each shoe. Gently scrub the top part of the shoes in consistent, circular motions to remove surface dirt.
If necessary, use the medium brush to tackle any stubborn stains.
5. Use a stiff brush to remove stubborn dirt
Dip the bristle brush in the cleaning solution before use.
Alexander McQueen shoes have thick and durable rubber soles. These soles often collect the most dirt and grime, particularly in the grooves. Use a stiffer brush to remove the dirt.
Scrub the soles of your Alexander McQueen shoes with a stiff brush. Use circular motions and apply more pressure than used on the uppers.
6. Pat the shoes dry with microfiber cloth, then air dry
Finally, use the microfiber towel to pat both shoes down. Ensure all excess dirt and cleaning solution are thoroughly wiped off the shoes.
After patting your Alexander McQueen shoes dry, leave them to air dry. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the shoes from yellowing quickly.
After 24 to 48 hours of air drying, re-lace your shoes and they should look as good as new. However, it’s best to clean your shoes regularly.
